SeaWorld Abu Dhabi Aquarium

MAT has been awarded to provide the complete LSS package for this mega project. A first-of-its-kind marine life themed park on Yas Island. This next generation SeaWorld facility includes the UAE’s first dedicated marine life research, rescue, rehabilitation and return center with world-class facilities and resources for the care and conservation of local marine life. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi transforms Yas Island to a top destination for leisure and entertainment.

The park is positioned as “next-generation”: combining rides, exhibits, live animals, and educational experiences. It spans multiple levels (five indoor levels) to house different “realms” (themed zones).

The aquarium is more than 58 million liters of water, claimed as the world’s largest multi-species aquarium housing over 68,000 marine animals and total over 100,000 animals.

  • Total area / size: 183,000 m²
  • Facility: 3,000 m²
  • Quarantine Facility: 58,000,000 liters Water Volume
  • Application: Overseeing Design phase, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Handover, Training and Maintenance of LSS systems for 5 Ocean Habitats, Service Zone, Research Facility, and Guest Service Zone.
  • Year: 2020–2023
  • Location: Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates
  • Total Quantity: 2000+ Equipment Units, 2000+ Auxiliary Units

Scope of Work

MAT has proudly provided the ALSS equipment design following Satchell ALSS facility design. We provided ALSS manufacturing, supply and commissioning of the filtration equipment as well as technical training.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi uses a sophisticated, multi-component filtration system provided by MAT Filtration Technologies to maintain water quality for its marine animals. The system includes biofiltration, mechanical filtration, chemical filtration, and sterilization devices, along with other life support systems (LSS), all designed to manage water clarity, temperature, and chemical parameters. This integrated approach ensures a stable and healthy environment by managing waste and maintaining the delicate balance required for the diverse aquatic species.

More than 330 containers full of MAT ALSS equipment were delivered onsite.
